Your Property Is Unique. Your Court Should Be Too.
Not every backyard fits a standard template. Irregular lots, tight dimensions, slopes, pools, garages, and rooftops all require a different kind of thinking. That’s exactly what our custom court process is built for.
When Standard Sizes Don't Fit Your Space
Most of our clients start by browsing our size tiers: small, medium, large, and full size. For many, one of those categories is a natural fit. But for others, the property has constraints that make a standard approach impractical, or a vision that goes well beyond what a standard size category captures.
That’s where custom courts come in.
A custom court project starts with your space and your goals, not a catalogue. We assess your property, listen to what you want to do with the court, and design a solution that works within your real-world constraints while delivering everything you’re looking for.
We’ve built on irregular lots where standard dimensions simply didn’t fit. We’ve worked around pools, gardens, and structures. We’ve installed courts on rooftops above city streets and on hillside properties that required significant grading. If there’s a way to build what you’re envisioning, we’ll find it.
You Might Need a Custom Court If...
- Your backyard has an irregular shape that doesn’t suit standard court dimensions
- You’re working around a pool, garage, garden, or other existing structure
- Your property has a slope that requires grading or leveling before installation
- You have a rooftop, courtyard, or non-standard outdoor space you want to convert
- You want a court design, colour scheme, or branding that goes beyond standard options
- Your vision doesn’t fit neatly into any standard size category
- You’re integrating the court into a larger outdoor living or landscaping project
If your property is relatively straightforward and you’re just figuring out what size makes sense, start with our Court Types & Sizes overview.
How It Works
From Your Constraints to Your Court
Custom court projects follow the same general process as every TSS installation, with additional planning and design time up front to get the details right before anything gets built.
01.
Consultation and Site Assessment
We start with a conversation about your goals, then visit your property to assess the space in person. We look at dimensions, drainage, existing structures, access, and anything else that will affect the design.
02.
Design and Layout
Our team develops a custom court layout tailored to your property. For unconventional spaces, this often involves multiple design iterations before we land on the right solution. We’ll show you a detailed plan before any work begins.
03.
Base Preparation
Every TSS court starts with a properly prepared concrete base. For custom projects, base preparation sometimes involves grading, leveling, or working around existing structures. We handle all of it.
04.
Surface and Accessories
You choose your surface, your colour scheme, your sport line configurations, and your accessories. Our team will make recommendations based on your space and how you plan to use the court.
05.
Installation and Walkthrough
Our crew completes the installation and walks you through everything before they leave. Custom or standard, every TSS project ends the same way: with a court that’s ready to play and a client who’s happy with what they got.
The Details Are Up to You
One of the best things about a custom court project is the creative latitude it opens up. Beyond solving for an unusual space, custom courts also give clients the freedom to build something that genuinely reflects their family, their team, or their style.
Colour Schemes
Choose from a wide range of tile and surface colours. Many clients use two or three colours to define different zones, create contrast between the playing surface and the border, or match a favourite team’s colours.
Custom Logos
A custom logo adds a finishing touch that makes the court unmistakably yours. TSS can incorporate team logos, family crests, favourite player numbers, or original designs directly into the court surface.
Multi-Sport Line Configurations
Custom courts can be designed to accommodate any combination of sports, with each sport’s lines in a distinct colour for easy reading during play. Our design team handles the layout to make sure everything fits cleanly.
Lighting
LED court lighting extends play into the evening and is particularly popular on courts that double as skating rinks in the winter. For custom projects, lighting placement is planned as part of the overall design rather than added as an afterthought.
Fencing, Netting, and Dasher Boards
Perimeter options are selected based on your space and your sports. Custom court projects sometimes require non-standard fencing configurations to work within property boundaries or around existing structures.
Surface Options
Choose Your Surface
Custom courts are available with the same two premium surface systems as all TSS installations. Both are fully adaptable to non-standard shapes and dimensions.
SnapSports Modular Tiles
Modular tiles are particularly well-suited to irregular shapes and custom dimensions. Individual tiles can be cut to fit non-standard edges and angles cleanly, making them the more flexible option for unconventional court shapes. Available across the full performance range from Base Court through Revolution HP
Acrylic Court Surface
A liquid-applied coating system that conforms to any concrete base shape, making it equally adaptable to custom dimensions. Acrylic delivers a seamless, professional finish regardless of court shape and is a strong choice for clients who want a clean, polished look on an unusual layout.

Common Questions
Custom Courts, Answered
How much does a custom court cost?
Custom court pricing depends entirely on the scope of the project: the size of the court, the complexity of the site, the surface and accessories chosen, and any special requirements like grading or structural work. We don’t publish a budget range for custom courts because the variation is too wide to be meaningful. What we will do is give you a clear, detailed estimate after assessing your property and understanding your goals. No surprises.
How long does a custom court project take?
Custom projects take longer to plan than standard installations, simply because there’s more design work involved upfront. Once the planning is complete and the base is ready, installation timelines are similar to standard courts of comparable size. We’ll give you a realistic project timeline during the consultation.
Can you build on a rooftop or elevated surface?
Yes. TSS has completed rooftop installations and has experience with the structural and logistical requirements they involve. Rooftop projects require a structural assessment of the building and careful planning around load-bearing capacity, drainage, and access. Bring us the project and we’ll tell you what’s involved.
Can I integrate the court into a larger landscaping or outdoor living project?
Absolutely, and we’d encourage it. Courts that are designed as part of a broader outdoor living space tend to look and feel better than courts that are dropped into a yard as an afterthought. If you’re working with a landscaper or architect on a larger project, we’re happy to collaborate and coordinate our installation around the broader plan.
What if my property has a significant slope?
Slopes require grading and leveling before a concrete base can be poured. TSS handles this as part of the project. The extent of the grading work depends on the severity of the slope and will be assessed during the site visit. It adds to the project scope but it’s absolutely manageable, and we’ve done it many times.
Can I add a custom logo to any court, not just custom courts?
Yes. Custom logos are available on any TSS court, regardless of size or configuration. It’s one of our most popular add-ons across all project types. We’ll discuss logo options during the planning phase of any project.
