Define Your Court. Elevate Your Game.
Containment netting, perimeter fencing, dasher boards, and windscreens do more than define your court boundaries. They finish the space, protect the investment, and mean you spend less time chasing balls and more time playing.
The Finishing Touch That Makes a Court Complete
A court without perimeter solutions is a surface. A court with the right fencing, netting, or dasher boards is a finished space — one that plays better, looks better, and keeps your game moving without interruption.
Containment netting stops balls from rolling into flower beds, pools, or the neighbour’s yard mid-game. Perimeter fencing defines the court and adds a layer of security. Dasher boards transform a multi-sport surface into a genuine hockey facility. Windscreens cut wind interference on outdoor courts and add visual privacy.
TSS designs and installs perimeter solutions for backyard courts and commercial facilities. Every system is specified for your court dimensions, your sports, and your property — not pulled from a catalogue and dropped in place.
Perimeter Solutions
Find the Right Solution for Your Court
Containment Netting
The most popular perimeter add-on for residential backyard courts. Containment netting keeps balls within the court boundary during play, which means fewer interruptions, fewer stray balls ending up somewhere they shouldn’t, and a more focused playing experience.
TSS supplies custom containment netting solutions sized to your court. Netting is available as part of a new court installation or as a standalone add-on for behind basketball goals on existing courts.
Standard Containment Netting $$
- [Net height options]
- [Mesh size and material]
- [Post spacing and anchoring method]
- Suitable for: Basketball, general ball containment on residential courts
Full Perimeter Containment Netting $$$
- Full court perimeter coverage
- [Net height options]
- [Mesh size and material]
- [Post spacing and anchoring method]
- Suitable for: Multi-sport courts, pickleball, active family courts where full containment is preferred
Perimeter Fencing
For clients who want a more permanent, structured perimeter solution, chain-link or welded wire fencing defines the court clearly and adds a layer of security and visual separation from the surrounding property.
Chain-Link Fencing $$
- [Height options]
- [Gauge and coating options]
- Standard galvanized or vinyl-coated finish
- Gate options available
- Suitable for: Residential and commercial outdoor courts
Welded Wire Fencing $$$

- Suitable for: Premium residential courts, commercial facilities where aesthetics matter
Dasher Boards
For courts where hockey is part of the sports mix, dasher boards are the upgrade that turns a flat surface into a real rink. Boards keep pucks and balls in play, protect players from sliding off the court edge, and give the court the look and feel of an actual hockey facility.
Standard Dasher Boards $$$
- [Board height]
- [Material: HDPE, fiberglass, or other]
- [Corner configuration options]
- Suitable for: Ball hockey, inline hockey, backyard rink conversions
Premium Dasher Boards $$$$
- [Board height]
- [Material and finish options]
- [Corner configuration options]
- Tempered glass or acrylic panel options available
- Suitable for: Serious hockey courts, commercial rink facilities, high-end residential installations
Windscreens
Windscreens attach to existing fencing or netting and serve two purposes: reducing wind interference on outdoor courts, and providing visual privacy from surrounding properties. A popular addition for pickleball and tennis courts where wind can meaningfully affect ball flight.
Standard Windscreen $
- [Material and density]
- [Wind reduction percentage]
- Available in [colour options]
- Attaches to existing fencing or netting
- Suitable for: Pickleball, tennis, any outdoor court where wind or privacy is a concern
Premium Windscreen $$
- [Material and density]
- [Wind reduction percentage]
- UV-stabilized for long-term outdoor use
- Available in [colour options] with custom branding option
- Suitable for: Commercial facilities, competitive venues, premium residential courts
Which Solution Is Right for You?
Residential & Commercial
For Homeowners
Most residential backyard courts benefit most from containment netting, which keeps balls in play without requiring a full fencing perimeter. For hockey families, dasher boards are a natural addition. For courts near neighbouring properties or with wind exposure, windscreens are worth considering. Our team will help you figure out what makes sense for your specific property during the consultation.
Best for: Backyard courts of all sizes, family recreational play, winter rink conversions
For Facilities & Organizations
Commercial facilities typically need a more comprehensive perimeter approach: full perimeter fencing for security and ball containment, windscreens for competitive play, and dasher boards for any facility with hockey programming. TSS specifies commercial perimeter solutions to the standards required for your sports and your usage intensity.
Best for: Private clubs, schools, municipalities, recreation centres, competitive venues
A Few Things Worth Knowing
Perimeter solutions are easier to plan upfront.
Like lighting conduit, post anchoring for fencing and netting should ideally be incorporated into the concrete pour. If you know you want fencing or dasher boards, tell us during the planning phase and we’ll build the anchor points into the base.
Height matters for the sport.
Different sports have different containment height requirements. Basketball needs enough height to stop errant shots. Pickleball and tennis need less. Hockey needs boards, not netting, in the critical zones. We’ll specify the right height for your sports during the design phase.
Aesthetics count.
Perimeter solutions are visible from the house and the street. The right choice depends on your property, your neighbours, and how you want the court to look as part of your overall backyard. We’ll show you options during the consultation so you can make a choice you’ll be happy with long-term.
Gates and access points.
Any fenced or fully netted court needs at least one gate or access opening. For larger courts or commercial facilities, multiple access points are standard. Gate placement is planned as part of the overall court design.

FAQs
Fencing & Windscreens, Answered
Is containment netting included in the court price?
Containment netting is available as an add-on and is not automatically included in the base court price. It will be itemized in your project estimate. We recommend deciding on your perimeter solutions during the planning phase so post anchoring can be incorporated into the concrete base.
Can I add fencing or netting to an existing court?
Yes, in most cases. Freestanding post systems can be added to existing courts without modifying the base. Anchored systems require drilling into the existing slab. TSS can assess your existing court and advise on the best approach. Contact us to discuss your situation.
What height should containment netting be?
It depends on your primary sport. For basketball, netting behind the goals is typically 10 to 16 feet high to catch errant shots. Full perimeter netting for general ball containment is typically 8 to 10 feet. For pickleball and other net sports, lower perimeter heights are usually sufficient. Our team will specify the right heights for your sports during the consultation.
Do windscreens hold up in Canadian winters?
Quality UV-stabilized windscreens are designed for outdoor year-round use and handle Canadian winters well. Some clients choose to remove windscreens for the winter season if the court is being used as a skating rink, as snow and ice loading on netting or screens can add stress to the posts. Our team will advise on the right approach for your specific setup.
Can dasher boards be used on a court that also converts to a skating rink?
Yes, and they’re a natural fit for winter rink use. Dasher boards keep pucks in play in the summer and function as rink boards in the winter. The main consideration is board material and corner configuration — we’ll help you choose a system that performs well in both applications.
Can I get a custom colour or logo on my windscreen or fencing?
Custom branding on windscreens is available on premium products. Custom colours for fencing are available depending on the system chosen. For commercial facilities looking to incorporate team colours or organizational branding into their court perimeter, mention it during the consultation and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
